Submit a Motion to Intergroup


If you would like to submit a motion to the Secretary of the S.L.A.A. Los Angeles Intergroup to be voted on at the next meeting, you may do so by filling out the form below, or by sending an email to the Secretary: secretary (at) slaalosangeles.org. 

NOTE: 

  • Submitting a motion via this form is not a guarantee that it will be processed. We suggest that you verify that the Secretary has received your motion by contacting him/her or asking before the meeting.

  • You must attend the Intergroup meeting (or send a proxy,) to have your motion voted on.

Resolved Intergroup Motions 2020

  • August 9, 2020 – For LA Intergroup to approve translation of State of Grace into Spanish.

  • August 9, 2020 – To create a committee to gather information about returning to physical meetings. The committee will service as a resource for meetings that have questions.

  • July 12, 2020 – To elect a person to handle Literature sales during the shutdown

  • June 14, 2020 – To change “co-ed” to “all-gender” in the LA SLAA Intergroup website and all literature that LA SLAA Intergroup controls.

  • May 3, 2020 – To rename the Jails and Treatment Centers Committee to Hospitals and Institutions Committee

  • April 5, 2020 – To accept online donations through PayPal and Venmo.

  • April 5, 2020 – To create and elect new service position for Virtual Meetings Registrar.

  • April 5, 2020 – To adopt security policy for online meetings: Don’t share links publicly; Require a meeting password
    Secretary or Group Rep. or Registrar can distribute the info privately to participants; Don’t publicly share the meeting – ONLY HOST should share

  • April 5, 2020 – To create and elect new service position for Virtual Meetings Registrar.

  • March 8, 2020 – For Audio Library Committee to start collecting mp3s, promoting the ALC to meetings and linking the mp3s for download on the SLAA website.

  • March 8, 2020 – To approve effort to translate SLAA Basic Text into Hebrew; will have oversight.

  • March 8, 2020 – To remain in the current Intergroup meeting location, $120 / month

Resolved Intergroup Motions 2019

  • Nov. 10, 2019 – To form a new task force to find a more affordable monthly meeting space for Intergroup, due to recent rent increase.

  • Nov. 10, 2019 – To increase the prudent reserve for S.L.A.A. Los Angeles to $4,000

  • Oct. 13, 2019 – To announce at each Intergroup meeting that donations must be submitted before 1 PM on the day of the Intergroup meeting.

  • Oct. 13, 2019 – To present a Fellowship-Wide Services Board of Trustees report at the L.A. Intergroup meeting, if an F.W.S. BOT member is in attendance.

  • Sept. 8, 2019 – To form a new committee to update the S.L.A.A. Los Angeles Service Manual.

  • Aug. 11, 2019 – To Form a new committee to research the possibility of adding a section on the website for Speaker Recordings. 

  • July 14, 2019 – To add item in I.G. Service Manual stating Literature Rep. should order the minimum quantities of inventory to receive bulk discounts from F.W.S.  

  • July 14, 2019 – To donate the remaining balance in the old checking account to SLAA F.W.S., and close the account.  

  • June 9, 2019 – To reimburse Dave G. for travel to/from F.W.S. ABM plus single room for Mon-Thurs.   

  • June 9, 2019 – For Intergroup to subsidize the cost of sales tax on literature sales (rather than to pass on the cost to groups).

  • May 5, 2019 – To Remove $3 charge for extra packets of Bottom Lines.

  • May 5, 2019 – For Intergroup to pay for Monday night hotel room and travel to & from Airport at FWS ABM for Journal Editor.

  • May 5, 2019 – For S.L.A.A. Los Angeles, Inc. to be a corporation with no voting members.

  • Apr. 14, 2019 – Intergroup elects Board of Trustees for S.L.A.A. Los Angeles, Inc.: Jenny G., Diane H., Carol S., Dave G. and Glen F.

  • Mar. 10, 2019 – Nonprofit Committee appointed to be “acting” Board of Trustees to conduct business on behalf of Corporation (open new bank account; register for sales taxes).

  • Mar. 10, 2019 – Minimum Requirements approved for Nonprofit Board of Trustees: 2 years sobriety, 2 years Intergroup Service; 2 years in program, attend in I.G. meetings regularly.  

  • Jan. 13, 2019 – To hire William Ramseyer, Attorney at Law to handle Nonprofit incorporation.

  • Jan. 13, 2019 – For L.A. Intergroup to become a 501(c)3 Nonprofit Corporation in CA;
