INTERGROUP ELECTIONS

We will start elections for intergroup positions for the new year starting at our November intergroup meeting. Please take a look at our service document for an overview of our service positions.

We encourage all meetings to have an intergroup rep, and be a part of the service work above the group level. Please read this sheet to get an idea of what it is, and how you can support the fellowship and your meeting.

LITERATURE

  • Please order literature at least one week before Intergroup. Day-of orders are difficult to fulfill; an ordering cutoff is being considered.

  • The Spanish SLAA Basic Text is now available. Intergroup plans to order copies; a possible 26-copy order for bulk pricing is under consideration.

SPEAKER LIST

  1. 3 new speakers added since September; 1 request for the speaker list.

  2. In-person representatives: scan the QR code on the speaker-list flyer to volunteer for Los Angeles in-person or virtual meetings.

  3. Zoom representatives: share the speaker-list link in your meeting announcements chat: https://www.slaalosangeles.org/los-angeles-speaker-list

HOSPITALS & INSTITUTIONS

  • H&I stands for Hospitals and Institutions. We bring the message to people who don't have access to regular meetings. We are currently looking for speakers as well as panel facilitators for H&I panels, which occur once per month at drug and alcohol treatment centers. These panels involve two 15-min lead shares from speakers of mixed genders as well as Q&A with attendees. If you have some time in program and are interested in sharing your ESH, this is an incredibly fulfilling way to carry the message. If interested, please speak to me after the meeting and I will put you in touch with the committee chair!"

Also, any meeting that does NOT currently have an H&I service commitment holder can make a motion to create one, and it is a very simple service position that simply involves reading the above script (or a variation therein) at each meeting.

  • Fellows wishing to donate clothing for homeless SLAA members can give items to Glenn for direct distribution.

AUDIO LIBRARY

  • No new audio was submitted this month. Please consider recording speakers for the audio library.

  • Recordings and names can be anonymized for privacy. A one-sheet explaining how to upload audio was requested.

  • The speaker release form remains available digitally on the audio library page.

TREASURER

  • Approximately $400–$500 in donations was received at the meeting; literature sales were not yet confirmed. Glen is covering face-to-face duties while Michael continues the treasury work off-site.

  • Please ask your meeting treasurer about an Intergroup contribution, and clearly identify the meeting when donating.

  • The “Supporting SLAA The 60/40 Way” handout explains contributions to Intergroup and FWS after maintaining a prudent reserve. Please pass it along to incoming treasurers.

SERVICE OPPORTUNITIES

  • Open positions: Journal Representative; FWS conduits for Steps, Traditions & Concepts, Translation, and Public Information.

  • The Workshops & Retreats Committee has several service positions available. Contact Raymond at workshops-retreats@slaalosangeles.org.

  • The Journal needs volunteer audio readers to record back issues. Committee service is a way to learn how FWS works.

  • The “Step Into Service” handout explains Intergroup representative duties and offers guidance for getting involved. Two volunteers from each meeting serving at Intergroup or above would help share the workload.

GENERAL ANNOUNCEMENTS

  • The October/November bi-monthly Bottom Line was printed and distributed.

  • The SLAA Los Angeles website has a new look. Please report glitches to Devin at webmaster@slaalosangeles.org.

  • The Journal Committee approved a $2,700 budget for printing/binding office equipment. Physical single back issues are available at www.slaafwas.org/thejournal.

  • Draft review: the source notes label this meeting “10.11.25,” while the September template and later event references point to 2026. Confirm the meeting date and October year before publication.
