Higher-Powered

The Eleventh Step asks us to maintain a conscious contact with a ‘Higher Power’ to help free us of our own will and open us up to other possibilities. But it’s easy to return to making demands on ourselves, God, and others for what we want. Learning to be still, to meditate and/or pray, is rewarding but easy to avoid. Join us as we explore the Eleventh Step and ways to stay open and vulnerable to the source of peace, sanity, gratitude, and authentic self-love. And to discover the energy and willingness to stay on the spiritual path.

There will be meetings with speakers who will focus on the issues raised by the Eleventh Step: prayer, meditation, will, discernment and power. We’ll also have several silent meditations to help focus us. We won’t break into small groups discussions at this workshop.

Directions to St. Basils Catholic Church St. Basils Catholic Church is located on the north side of Wilshire Boulevard, between Harvard Boulevard and Kingsley Drive. The church is five blocks east of Western Avenue. Enter the parking lot from Harvard Boulevard. Parking is free. McIntyre Hall is located at the north end of the parking lot, in the church basement. Unfortunately access to McIntyre Hall is not handicap friendly. There is a Starbucks several blocks west of the church and an Alfred’s Coffee two blocks east
